For Electronics & IT products, BIS plays a key role in the safety, standardization, and quality marking of manufactured goods/products. Electronic and IT products come under the BIS CRS Scheme. BIS license is compulsory for electronic and IT products before their launch into the market as per the BIS CRS Scheme. Under this scheme, manufacturers get a BIS registration certificate from BIS. After that, they can use a standard mark with a unique registration number on their products, belonging to electronics and IT.
This registration is based on the manufacturer’s self-declaration of conformity for goods and articles according to Indian standards. The licenses by BIS provide a third-party guarantee to the consumers that the product fulfills the quality standards needed by law. It also means that the product is safe to use. Kaoru Ishikawa says, “Quality control is applicable to any kind of enterprise. In fact, it must be applied in every enterprise.” This is why a BIS license is important for a manufacturer of electronics and IT products.
The right procedure to get BIS Registration
According to the BIS CRS Scheme, you must follow the BIS registration procedure to get a license. Here is a quick look at the procedure:
- Submission of online application: The first step you need to take is to fill out the BIS registration form by visiting the BIS online CRS portal. This way, you will receive login credentials.
